How to apply

Apply now for year 10 or 11 in 2026.

To be eligible to apply at a Technical College, students must be:

  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident and provide evidence
  • in years 9 or 10 in the year prior to commencement.

We welcome applications from students of public or private schools.

    For  a full-time place:

  • Apply online for full-time industry training at the technical colleges in Findon, Tonsley, or The Heights.
  • For  a part-time place:

  • Talk to your school’s career counsellor or VET coordinator to apply for part-time industry training at Technical Colleges in Findon, Tonsley, The Heights, Port Augusta or Mount Gambier. If endorsed, your school will submit your application.
  • Once you apply and meet the initial eligibility criteria, our dedicated team will support you through the next steps of the process.

Submit at least 2 distinct pieces of evidence showcasing your experience, learning or interest in your chosen industry training program. Examples include:

1. Industry exposure

Examples:

  • Part-time or casual jobs
  • Volunteering
  • Helping family or friends with work
  • Work experience placements
  • Industry Immersion days at a Technical College

What to include:

  • Letters, emails, or reports from employers or schools showing:
    • Dates you worked
    • Hours and tasks you completed
    • Certificates or proof of participation

2. Accredited training

Examples:

  • Short courses or certificates
  • Micro-credentials

What to include:

  • Letters, emails, or reports from schools or Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) with:
    • Training or course details
    • Results or certificates
    • Statements of Attainment

3. School-based activities

Examples:

  • VET taster sessions or units
  • Career expos or Technical College immersion activities
  • The ‘Exploring Identities and Futures’ subject (Year 10 SACE)
  • Career tools like MyFuture or My Careers Portal (e.g., self-assessments, plans, or career journeys)

What to include:

  • School reports or summaries that show:
    • What you did and when
    • What you learned or achieved
    • Screenshots or PDFs from online tools

If you meet the readiness requirements, complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to make sure you have the necessary reading and numeracy skills for success in the industry training programs.

Attend an interview with your parents or carers to discuss the industry training programs, the expectations of attending a technical college, and your suitability for this type of senior secondary program.

If we offer you a place at the technical college, your final step is to complete and submit the enrolment documentation.

Please note that enrolment is not guaranteed, as places are limited and the programs are in high demand. We aim for career success for every student, so we accept those who are dedicated and meet the entry requirements.
