A career in early childhood and education is an opportunity to positively support and nurture the minds of future generations.

Findon Technical College's early childhood and education industry training program helps you develop the knowledge and skills required to make the most of this fulfilling and high growth pathway.

We have partnered with Australia’s largest provider of early learning and care, Goodstart Early Learning, and Montessori childcare centre specialists, Precious Cargo, to design and deliver this program.

The program features a broad range of topics including:

  • child development
  • health, safety and nutrition
  • teaching and learning approaches
  • protective behaviours.

All topics contribute to your VET qualifications and SACE.

Step straight into an entry-level position or continue studying through VET or university to pursue a wide range of more specialised career options.

What you’ll learn

Year 10

You'll complete the Australian Curriculum, plus:

  • learn about the industry
  • plan your career options
  • complete VET introductory level courses
  • develop workplace skills
  • gain experience with employers in the industry.

Year 11

You'll complete a full-time program which prepares you for a career in the industry and includes:

  • technical skills through a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • language, literacy, numeracy and skills needed in the workplace
  • project-based and hands-on learning in the workplace environment
  • research project based on a career in the industry
  • work placement with employers in the industry
  • potential to enter into a school-based traineeship
  • completing all compulsory SACE requirements.

Year 12

You'll complete a full-time program which prepares you for a career in the industry and includes:

  • technical skills through completing a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • work placement with employers in the industry
  • advanced language, literacy, numeracy and skills needed in the workplace
  • support to transition into a traineeship after school or fast track to university
  • completion of SACE.

Jobs and future pathways in this industry

The early childhood and education industry training program sets you up for a bright future in the industry.

After you graduate from a technical college, you could:

  • go straight into a job
  • undertake further VET study
  • continue studying at university.

Jobs upon finishing high school

You'll leave the technical college with the knowledge and skills to go straight into a job.

You'll be prepared for careers such as:

  • Early Childhood Educator/Worker
  • Family Day Care Educator.

You'll receive the Australian Curriculum, plus:

  • learn about the industry and the career options
  • complete VET introductory level courses and develop workplace skills
  • gain experience with employers in the industry.

VET

You can choose further training in:

This will prepare you for careers such as:

  • Education Officer
  • Childcare Centre Manager
  • Assistant Director/Director Childcare
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Officer.

University

You can also choose higher education:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor of Teaching
  • Bachelor of Education.

This will prepare you for careers such as:

  • Early Childhood Teacher
  • School Teacher.
