Located in the Tonsley Innovation Precinct, Tonsley Technical College is planned to welcome students in 2026.

Run in conjunction with the Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS), students at the technical college can get a head start to a career in 1 of 3 in-demand industry specialisations:

  • Advanced manufacturing and engineering
  • Automotive and energy
  • Building and construction

The technical college will support students in years 10 to 12 to complete their SACE while undertaking vocational education and training (VET) in state-of-the-art specialist facilities.

Industry training programs

Tonsley Technical College has partnered with the Motor Trade Association (MTA)Master Builders Association (MBA), and Australian submarine company ASC to develop training for careers in some of South Australia’s fastest growing industries. Additional partners will be announced soon.

Each industry training program will cover:

  • technical skills
  • core skills and capabilities
  • work experience and workplace learning
  • employability skills
  • career education
  • student support and mentoring.

You’ll study VET qualifications, while you complete your SACE.

All of your learning will be centred around your industry, giving you the skills employers need and putting you in the best position to get a job after you graduate.

Tonsley Technical College will be located in the Tonsley Innovation Precinct and will be built in tandem with Flinders University’s Factory of the Future.

The Factory of the Future is an industry focused research and capability-building facility. The facility offers South Australian companies the opportunity to accelerate the uptake and diffusion of advanced skills and technologies. The Factory of the Future aims to foster innovation, boost productivity and increase international competitiveness.
