Technical college students spend every day in simulated or real work environments – not classrooms. You’ll learn by doing the sort of projects required by your chosen industry, with a focus on hands-on, practical education.

Over the course of 3 years, you’ll learn everything you need to immediately transition into:

  • entry level work
  • an apprenticeship or traineeship
  • further study through VET or university.

Learn outside of the classroom

In a technical college, your learning will be integrated into your industry training program, and you’ll learn literacy and numeracy skills relevant to your career by completing projects in the workplace. You’ll still earn your SACE, but through first-hand, applied learning experiences.

As you progress through your program, you’ll spend more and more of your time gaining workplace experience.

Facilities that prepare you for a modern workplace

You’ll learn in brand-new buildings with state-of-the-art equipment that reflects the workplaces of today – and the future.

Learn in purpose-built workshops using industry-standard equipment. Get real, hands-on experience with the technologies you'll use daily in your future career.

Our facilities are collaborative workspaces, where you’ll get used to the work environment and culture.

Mentoring and support

Throughout your time at our technical college, you’ll have staff and industry mentors to support your wellbeing. Both during your industry training program, and into your transition to work.

We’ll help you prepare for employment with career planning and development skills. We want you to be ready to navigate your career across your lifetime.

You’ll also gain key employability skills, like:

  • communication
  • motivation and initiative
  • teamwork
  • problem solving
  • self-management.

Get a head start to a hands-on career

By the time you leave a technical college, you’ll have:

  • earned a VET qualification that can take you from in school to an in-demand career
  • met experts already working in your field and created a network of industry contacts
  • become familiar with the world of work, and you’ll understand what’s needed to succeed
  • developed your technical skills in actual industry projects, in a real workplace, with industry mentors
  • been guided to an entry level position, a traineeship, or apprenticeship in an industry with a high need for skilled workers
  • the option to pursue more VET or university study, leading to a further specialised career.
